Marvellous browsing material and completely fascinating. While I might not be anxious to try 'chopped brain fritters', the idea of a 'primrose omelette' is very tempting. The commentary, by Dr Ross, on each recipe, places recipes in the context of their time and build to a fine social history of the kitchen. The book is beautifully designed and illustrated and very good value for money. It will solve a lot of present problems come Christmas. Viper & snail broth anyone?
