Study Version of the Daily Missal.,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Study Missal (Leather Bound)
Unfortunately we wanted two but were only able to secure one. Some of us wanted a better quality version of the daily missal and were prepared to invest in the additional cost of such a book. Our Parish Priest has one and we were able to look at this before making any decision. The Missal is a beautiful, tactile book that will be treasured. In many ways it is regretable that in two years time the readings will change. Until then it will be used with great reverence.

I found your review of this Missal encouraging and voted for it but I would have liked more information as to why it is called a 'Study Missal'. And I am unaware of how the readings will change in two years apart from changing from series B to series C which, surely is included in the missal? And in the ordinary missal the table of readings takes us to 2039. Overall though you have given a good taster.

I cannot vouch for the two years, but there is talk of a new (decent & accurate) translation of the readings being introduced - and not before time.

The Daily and Sunday readings are not in this Missal. It is a replica of the "Altar" Missal and has the all of the instructions to the priest in it as well as the General Instruction to the Roman Missal (GIRM).

You are absolutely correct. I bought this Missal because I wanted a leather version and when I saw Priest with one I ordered it. It is a beautiful tactile book but in terms of suitability for Mass for the layperson it falls short as you would need the accompanying readings. However I do enjoy using it at home.
