I was initialy surprised by the upbeat funkiness of the first track. This is not the work of a Warp records artist, I thought to myself. Then the second track came on, and as the discordant electric piano began to ride the shimmering drums (which all sound like they were recorded in a dingy bathroom) and the popping bass runs came tumbling out of the speakers, I thought I was listening to some long lost captain beefheart instrumental, where they ditched their usual swamp-blues and looked to miles davies for inspiration. Abstract is probably the best word to describe this album, which is a totally original piece of work. Not for the faint-hearted, but ultimately rewarding.
