Customer Review

on 10 February 2002
Having only ever heard of Big star mentioned by bands in interviews (usually alongside MC5 and the Stooges) this was the ideal introduction to their music - which I'd never heard before. It takes a few listens to get into it but a few tracks really stick out - 'Thirteen', 'Watch the Sunrise' and 'The Ballad of El Goodo' especially. Some of the stuff is pretty average and as this is a 'Best of' chances are the 'proper' albums are touch and go but if you like Teenage Fanclub, Primal Scream and the like this is where it all began...
