If you are a fan of this series and I am, then this book is a bit boring compared to the earlier novels. Nothing new happens in terms of the series main characters....Jack and Flea.....in terms of character or storyline development. It seems the events of the past have got them in some kind of gridlock or Mo Hayder has run out of ways to take them forward. The compromises of the past and resultant moral ambiguity seem to have lead them to a dead end. The pace of this book was akin to jogging to stand still. I kept on turning the pages in the hope something might happen only to find the story going nowhere. Hayder is a fantastic storyteller who can weave the evil doings of the unhinged into everyday society and situations. However just not this installment.
