Slow boat to China,
This review is from: The Man From Beijing (Paperback)
This book starts out really well and then loses the plot! As soon as the Chinese chapters appear it is as if written by a different author. The plot is ridiculous and just doesn't make sense and the idea of Mugabe being a good man - well come on where has this author been living for the last 20 years.
The conclusion leaves so many untied ends that you begin to think I could have written a better book than this.
So no I really did not enjoy this book I found it extremely hard going.

I totally agree with this synopsis. It is the first Mankell book that I didn't read in its entirety. The chinese sections are very confusing, a lot of things are never explained and I must say I was very disappointed.
