An unhesitating recommendation for this excellent double-disc set. These early episodes show how Tony Hancock's scriptwriters, Ray Galton and Alan Simpson, started 'colouring in' the uniquely misanthropic Hancock character, superbly supported by the likes of Sid James, Hattie Jacques and Bill Kerr. This allowed Hancock some superb comic foils, sparring brilliantly with the ensemble.
Some sleeve notes would have been helpful, and some background to the recordings would have been useful add-ons, but the pure comedy gold herein is worth the trip, and the outlay.
