For those of us who were once choirboys and are now of a certain age Ernest Lough was still remembered as the boy suprano voice to savour. I bought this CD as it said that the old recordings had been cleaned up. Well they might have been but is still sounds as if there is someone in the background tearing a big sheet of paper most of the time. The delight is that the voice is pure and would be amazing in any age. If you can hear past what to our ears are the inadequate recording techniques involving wax cylinders dating from 1927 then you will still enjoy. Hear my Prayer;O for the Wings of a Dove appears twice from recordings in 1927 and the 1928. The latter recording is a little faster and in my opinion the better. Hear ye Israel is interesting and shows Lough's excellent intonation and vocal range but he learned it in a short time I understand and it is not note perfect. My favourite track is I know that my Redeemer Liveth from Messiah.Wings of a Dove: Original 1927-1938 Recordings
