As I write this, I've just quit the "memory addition" section of this game for the tenth consecutive time. That is to say, that for ten consecutive attempts, the game has failed to correctly recognise my writing. And every single time it is for the same digit, namely 3. It reads 3 as 1 about eight times out of ten on average and sometimes, as happened today, every time. I assure you that if you saw what I wrote on the screen, you would recognise it as a three.
Given that the idea of the game is to write the answers as quickly as possible, your only chance of posting a decent score is to hope that you don't have to enter a 3 anywhere. This is possible, but statistically unlikely.
This problem carries over into certain of the other exercises as well. Those which do not rely on handwriting recognition are entertaining and fun, but that's no excuse for the truly awful job done on the recognition software.
If it misread almost everything that I input, I could put it down to me having bad handwriting, but it doesn't, and I don't. But there are certain numbers and certain digits which are misread again and again and again; it's almost enough to make me want to give up on the entire package, which would be a shame, because it's an innovative idea and when it works, it's actually fun to play.
Coming from the usually perfectionist Japanese, this is definitely an unwelcome surprise.
