Bit hit and miss but still worth it,
This review is from: Step-by-Step Baking (Hardcover)
Most recipes are very good. Some, however are not quite up to it. The croissant recipe for example is not good. Also, for the "cupcakes", the recipe must be using fairy cake cases because I've tried several times and the quantities of sponge and icing are totally wrong for 24 cupcakes as it's supposed to make (and I could see it was wrong just by looking at the ingredient list). The icing didn't even stretch to 12 cupcakes. But the other recipes are fabulous, like the Whoopie Pies. First time I ever made those and they were unbelievably good! I have tried many recipes out of this book and most are good, some excellent, but experienced bakers will probably find out the faulty ones just by reading the recipe/ingredient list first. It could do with better photography as well because some things just don't look appetizing (even though I'm sure they are) because the photos are kind of dull and boring. Worth getting though.
