Who were they?...,
This review is from: Who Are You (Audio CD)
This was sadly the last album from The Who with any real purpose or `soul`. The band had worked hard, Pete was suffering and seemed to
be dissatisfied with his role in Rock. Moon was becoming incapable
of being relied upon and this was his last album before his untimely death.
Having said that, it IS a good album.
I do rate New song, Guitar and Pen, Who Are You and I suppose Sister disco isn't bad. But the album lacksthe `fire in the belly` and meaning that is so evident in Pete's previous work.
The album which followed (Face Dances) is a poor one, It's Hard, bad compared to previous Who material. Pete was effectively not able to produce the quality of his previous stuff at this time.
He can still produce and play great melody and lyrics even to this day, but something extra is missing which made his previous work so brilliant and original.
