Customer Review

on 1 April 2010
I bought this after lending the movie from a friend, which immediately spurred me to buy the boxset because it was brilliant, had a great story and a brilliant mix of characters. Bebop really is my first real dip into the anime genre, well apart from ghost in the shell(brilliant!). I must say this series is absolutely incredibly good, every episode has a unique blend of characters, plot and locations. The story is about a group of bounty hunters, well 3 bounty hunters, one young strange hacker and a very clever corgi!!Its set in space in 2071, the group reside on a space ship called the bebop. Bounty hunters are given the nickname Cowboys thus derives the series title!Another cool thing about this series is instead of calling them episodes they are called sessions, maybe its just me but that is just fresh and cool! Here are the main characters of the series: Spike is one of the coolest people ive ever seen on the silver screen! His attitude and total outlook on things are very humerous. He is also a master at martial arts, very fluent style to him.He is a history too with a certain individual.Jet is a big guy with a heart of gold, he might say cruel things, but you know deep down he doesnt mean them. He's very proud of the Bebop too, even if other people think its just a big old piece of crap!Faye is a tricky one, she's not even sure what she is doing on the bebop. Her past comes to haunt her a few times during the series, and of course her debt she owes to someone. She was cryogenically frozen after an accident, and when woken is told she owes a lot of wulongs(currency). She goes on the run and is hunted. She arrives on the bebop because she has nowhere else to go. Edward is a girl with a boys name, she is a strange one, but a very funny and key character to a lot of the successfull bountys they capture. She is a young hacker genius who spends most of her time on the computer inside the bebop. She makes her way onto the bebop by force, hacking into there control system and picking here up along the way, but only because she is a big fan of the bebop! And lastly Ein the corgi dog. Ein is thought to be just your average corgi but is later revealed to be a data dog, basically a lab animal that possesses enhanced intelligence. Only edward realises this and takes very fondly to her, they become a kind of duo if you wish. The list of unique enemies the gang face during the series would take me forever to type and my wrists are achin! There are a group of eco warriors, a fat guy that cannot be killed who wears a top hat, a ruthless killer from spikes past, a fraudster who loves playing chess, a black blob that infects the ship, the list goes on! Just know that this series could make anyone talk forever about how good it is, buy it and you will know exactly what I mean! Until then, see you later space cowboy :-)
