This album has to be a first, it was written and recorded by 3 14-15 year old aussie's from newcastle just north of sydney. It's main single Tommorrow went straight to no1 in the australian charts, as did the album when it was released. The tune; Israel's son, doesn't let you carefully into this masterpiece but gives you a taste of what is to come. However for all those who are not game for the heavier side of this album there are always the sometimes melodic shade and suicidal dream. Listening to the latter of these two soings you might start to think the lead singer Daniel Johns was a slightly desperate charatcter, the lyrics give you a sense of his despair or maybe sadness, either way they are very mature for a boy of 15. after the first 7 tunes the album needs to be listened to a number of time before the last few songs can be fully appreciated. over all Frogstomp to my reckoning is the best of their albums, it has the certain profundity that 10 by pearl jam and definately maybe by Oasis share. don't get me wrong however Silverchair are a far cry from the lovely streets of manchester.
