Good but not her best,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Hand That First Held Mine (Paperback)
Without question this book is beautifully written. But it just didn't engage me in the way that most of Maggie O Farrell's other books have done. I enjoyed it - but it took 200 pages for me to reach a point where I really wanted to know what would happen next. Before this I was content to just read a page here and there each night - nothing wrong with that of course but for me a really good book is one that I can't bear to put down and where the next chance to read a bit more cannot come quickly enough. I liked it well enough in the end but still can't quite shake the feeling that I had to stick with it just a bit too long to get to the bit that gripped me. I do like the way she writes though so hopefully her next book will grab me in the same way that her other books have
