I love watching Rachel Allen's cookery programmes. This is the second of her books I have bought. It is easy to follow, with plenty of useful tips and suggestions. (I'd never thought of making up a batch of roux and keeping it to use as a basic store cupboard ingredient before - it works brilliantly). I used her shepherds pie receipe recently and it came out perfectly. The book is split into sections, breakfast, lunch, sunday, lunch, supper, desserts, snacks, baby purees and basics. The basic section gives you receipes for making stocks, sauces and jams. There are helpful tips throughout the book, including how to store the finished receipes. Also included are suggestions for keeping your larder/store cupboard stocked.
