Customer Review

on 8 March 2014
There have been a number of very good books written about he Congo over the years and this is as good as any of them. The author does a great job in describing the anarchy, decay and chaos of the Congo as he heads south down Lake Tanganyika to the rusting mining city of Manono lost in a sea of jungle.

However this book is not isn't the Congo a basket case or another journey into the heart of darkness. The book wonderfully describes the Congo's stunning landscape and the seemingly indestructible people who somehow endure it all.

Anyone who likes books on the Congo will really enjoy this one.
