This review is from: Bologna, Italy: Including the Bologna Museum of Modern Art, the Bologna Cathedral, Palazzo d'Accursio, the Towers of Bologna, the Orto Botanico dell'Universita di Bologna, and More (Paperback)
This book is a compilation of extracts from Wikipedia about Bologna and its environs, and, so far as I can tell, was formed by simply taking every extract that includes Bologna in its title.
To be fair to the compilers, one does get a good range of material on Bologna, including places some guides more or less ignore. For that it gets its second star.
But the practice of printing extracts from Wikipedia and charging a sum which makes it one of the more expensive guides, when every part of it is freely available on-line at a site whose rationale includes its being free, is unethical and sharp practice.
Were the price minimal, simply reflecting the fact that making a printed set of extracts can not be done for free, then not only would I not mind, I`d be prepared to say that the compilers had performed a useful service. But profiting from Wikipedia is so far from the ethos of that site - formed as it is by an army of unpaid volunteers - as to be intellectual theft.
