Nice to see the band revisiting their back catalogue and addressing blunders from first time round eg Vapor Trails mix, and now reissuing this concert with the addition of songs previously omitted, and giving it a hi-def polish.
Not sure if the show was shot in hi-def and then given an upgrade for this blu-ray, but the picture is fine. The opening scene with the animated album cover graphics is a bit soft and mushy looking but once the footage moves to the band on stage everything looks great.
The HD-DTS soundtrack is excellent - more clarity than previously on the dvd, with surround sound effects more present in the mix.
There are 6 songs added back in to the show, but you'd be hard pressed to spot them unless you compared running orders, as the quality is pretty seamless. The band opted to drop them from the original release to avoid duplication with the earlier Rio dvd, but you can also hear why these songs might have been dropped at the editing stage. Alex's guitar goes way out of tune on YYZ, and although he struggles heroically you can see on his face that it's a train wreck, and on a couple of the others Ged's voice mis-pitches in a few places. But hey, that's live music for you.
If you haven't seen this set before, it's worth a spin - the band's first shows on European shores after a lengthy absence, and they give a good account of themselves on this particular night. Ged's voice is arguably on better form than on the more recent Time Machine set, and the guitars also sparkle and have better sound separation than on the slightly muddy TM mix.
All the extras on the 2nd dvd are now also on the one blu-ray disc so it's a nice compact package.
