A LORRA LORRA CILLA,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Completely Cilla [1963-1973] [DVD Included] (Audio CD)
Listening to Cilla's songs reminds you how many great songs she sang and many of her ballads must have been very difficult to sing but Cilla nailed them - even on the dvd she sang so well live.
Seeing Cilla onstage was really something, I first saw her in the 60's when You're My World was her current hit and she blew me away with the power in her voice. I liked many of the female singers Dusty was my favourite, along with (in no particular order) Jackie Trent, Cilla, Madeline Bell, Petula Clark etc:
I know EMI have released many box sets by Cilla as I have them all but they never give her that special 'treatment' (i.e. a lavish box set) that we've had over the years from Dusty, Alma Cogan, Matt Monro & Peggy Lee to name a few - why is that I wonder? Surely Cilla deserves it!
I hope next year for her anniversary we finally get Surprisingly Cilla on cd and also her complete albums on cd, and if any unreleased tracks are found in the EMI vaults then let's have them.

C. Simmons says:
Of all the great female, solo and group, singers of the 60's, Cilla should surely be excluded by the length of a particularly greasy bargepole? Anyone who places her on a plinth of any kind of musical substance might as well hang a chain around their neck stating "I have utterly no perception of what constitutes great music" - a succinct glance at their record collection would presumably rubber stamp that as well. They are probably the sort of individual who rates Cliff Richard over Elvis and claims their veneered dining furniture is solid oak when we all know it's chipboard - plastic music fans with no knowledge of real class.

Dear Mr. Simmons,
I know what I would like to to with the greasy bargepole!!! You obviously have your favourites but do not rubbish other people's favourites, it's extremely ignorant but then that is what you are. You make a habit of trawling through old reviews and spewing your vicious attacks on them. My Cilla review is a year old, where were you then? Not that I care!
