Being a fan of the first 2 games in the series I have been waiting several years for the release of a Suikoden game on the PS2 and was very disappointed when the 3rd instalment wasn't released in a PAL format, however learning about the impending release of the 4th game made me rather excited. Having owned a copy of this game since its UK release date and playing it extensively I can honestly say it was worth waiting for and more than justifies my excitement. This game brings a variety of new features to the series as well as sub-games and sub-quests, combining this with the 108 stars of destiny give this game a considerable life span. In making the transition from 2D to 3D some of the innocence in the appearance of some of the characters has been lost, however I feel this isn't at all a bad thing considering the subject matter of the game. The characters themselves are excellently modelled and the voice acting is second to none. I am glad to see the return of a few old favourites as far as characters, runes and items are concerned, but would have preferred to see a few more. Overall this game is a worthy of any players collection, further more it is an excellent addition to a long running series of exceptional games.
