skippy dies and didn't get any better,
This review is from: Skippy Dies (Paperback)
Another Book club choice and the worst one yet. I persevered with this book to finish one of only two in our club to do so. At least three started and gave up and the others did not bother to start. I found this book to be tedious, over long ( it could have been easily halved ) I found it very hard to get into I started the first chapter at least three times. I thought the characters were very clichéd , teachers, parents priests young boys and girls.
Paul Murray took a lot of swipes at a lot of different topics, such as young boys obsessions with rap, girls, lighting farts, RPG, inventions, clubs, gangs. Also young girls' obsessions with weight, fashion , boys, cliques. The he got onto a variety of other topics such as, futility of war, republicanism, capitalism, science, string theory, M theory black holes, spiritualism, and black holes.
If he was trying to be funny he failed for me I read better stuff in a school magazine when I was fourteen. Don't waste your time reading this.
