I've always been a fan and Hattie was an interesting and lovely character to read about, however, the writing style was not great for me. Much of the information appeared to be extracted from other people's biographies and I never felt the book really "flowed". I had to keep checking back to the dates as you could be jumping back a few years between chapters. A lot of the book was more about the other people she was friendly with, and what they had done in their lives and their issues, rather than about Hattie. It almost felt as if it really should have been a much shorter book but had been padded out with this other stuff. I still think she was a great woman, but I'm glad I got the book when it was on offer and didn't cost me a fortune!
