Customer Review

on 12 July 2014
My first acquaintance with Ben Elton - very good indeed, with graphic descriptions of how Hitler's thugs treated the Jews, Kristallnacht, and many other such events. Especially poignant are the older Jewish people, like the granddad who thinks that because he was in the police before he would be all right; or the super rich store owner turning up to his store in his expensive car and being forced to lick the pavement clean. And then there's the final twist at the end... Harrowing stuff, but superbly told Absolutely excellent. I knew a man who said that 'fiction can't tell you anything non-fiction doesn't' - this book proves the lie since non-fiction can't make you live the story like this.
