This review is from: The Ranger (Quinn Colson Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
A Ranger home from the army uncovers a complicated and messy set of circumstances in which not everything turns out as well as he might have hoped. A funeral is always an event with lots of potential for bringing out tensions within families and communities and the funeral that Quinn attends is no exception.
Initially the whole matter seems straightforward - to find a killer and clear the name of a good man. Was this going to be an action story that had lots of guns and fights? There was a bit of this but what I enjoyed was that the author set up this expectation and then took the plot in a new direction. The all action hero bit was there to an extent but the lines that divide them and use, good and bad were felt a little more realistic that the standard action story.
I also have to say that I liked Quinn. Did I really get to know him? I think the answer would have to be "a bit" but I suppose I was not really meant to see the whole person or even most of him. I do look forward to getting to know him in future books.
