Discovered Sohn when I was flipping through a list of acts on at a festival. Heard the 30 second snippets on Amazon, and decided to give it a punt. Glad I did, it's a great album.
Musically, it's a kind of cross between James Blake and Gotye, but is individual enough not to sound like a clone of anyone else. The first track, Tempest, is gorgeous, almost like electronic gospel. 'Oh lord, I got lost along the, lost along the way...' My favourite track at the moment is Veto, with the affecting melody on the line, 'We were formed from a small set of emotions, the undertow...' Just gorgeous.
Seeing him live is very like listening to the album, but even more expansive. This is full music and works really well on a good system, cranked up loud. The songs are good, his voice is excellent, the musicianship is class; everything comes together just beautifully.
