Possibly the worst McCoy story,
By A Customer
This review is from: Doctor Who: Ghost Light [VHS] (VHS Tape)
There are many good things about Ghost Light - the wonderfully decorated sets, the atmospheric lighting, surreal imagery, and striking visual effects as well as a haunting music score... but the effect of all of these is undermined by the fact that the story is an incoherent mess. It's not that I don't like complex stories. It's that Ghost Light, at its core, has a very simple story told extremely badly. This is not entirely the writer's fault. The blame lies substantially with the script editor, who did not iron out many of the rough paches, and should have, as well as making sure the story was intelligible to a general viewer. The most popular periods of Dr. Who's history have been when the producer couldn't give a toss for fandom. As it is, Ghost Light is made solely for the fans, and when that happens the show deserves all it gets. Which in this case was cancellation.
