A great book,
This review is from: A Short History Of Nearly Everything (Bryson) (Paperback)
I have always had an interest in science and tried to be scientifically literate and knowledgable across a wide range of subjects. But I only knew a small fraction of the amount of information in this book. I won't say it comprehensively covers (nearly) everything, but it does cover a huge swathe of the knowledge that human kind has accumulated up to the present. It is far more wide ranging than just about any other scientific book I have read.
Not only is it full of information, but it is written in such a way to make it interesting and entertaining. It may not be laugh out loud funny like some of Bill's other books, but it is still amusing.
This was an incredibly ambitious process from Mr Bryson, and he has delivered an incredible work.
