Customer Review

on 22 February 2014
Camilleri is back on form with 'The Potter's Field'. If, like me, you had grown tired of the broad, slapstick comedy, the Livia relationship and lazy plotting or, more often, the total absence of any plotting at all, and had intended abandoning Montalbano, then this story could change your mind. It is well-plotted and, for once, the police characters are integrated into the narrative and not just there for light relief: the moral choices Montalbano makes, while investigating a murder, will directly impact on the personal and professional futures of some of them. There are things that I find irritating, like Montalbano's dialogues with himself, but it was an engrossing, enjoyable read.
