I bought PR Superstar to gain a greater understanding of what goes into a public relations campaign. It's certainly done that! PR Superstar has shown me exactly how to write a press release, what it needs to contain (and what it doesn't) and what to do with it next.
One comment I must make is that the book is very succinct and to-the-point. There's no waffle in it at all, which, to be fair is a claim the book makes right from the start. However I would have enjoyed perhaps a few more details and a little more story-telling at certain points.
I found the book instructive, and directive. It showed me exactly what to do, and will be invaluable in writing my first press release. As you can imagine, I'm a newcomer to PR, but I've also shown it to a friend who is in marketing who said they'll be buying a copy too. Good praise indeed.
