Very excited to get my copy of this reissue LP today but unfortunately, when I came to play it, it's so badly pressed there was more crackle and pop than music. As Richter's work is very quiet and atmospheric this is a real problem and so it has gone straight back to Amazon. A real shame.

I've got the same problem, the record is full of pops and crackle. It sounds as if it's a bad case of static. So I've tried to wash one LP in an anti-static fluid (Knosti), but the problem persists. It seems QC at Fatcat Records isn't good. I've seen that the first pressing in 2009 had the same problem and I was hoping this reissue would be better.

C. Lawson, thanks for the recent review, I was looking forward to this vinyl release and upon receiving my copy was unpleasantly surprised to hear the amount of static hiss. I too clean the disk to no avail. This is a wonderful album as you have said, and the static is very annoying.

I am also experiencing this issue! After waiting nearly a month (an unexplained delay - until I contacted Amazon) I sit down to listen to my copy of the album to find that the entire first disc is covered in crackles from beginning to end, whereas the second disc plays just fine. This seems like a complete f*** up on behalf of everyone involved in the release - did anyone think to actually listen to the album before packaging it up & taking our money?

I also had the same problem! I took it back twice and washed both copies in Knosti fluid before giving up. Avoid.

If anyone isn't aware, Deutsche Grammophon (Richter's new label) are re-releasing Memoryhouse in September & it will be a new recording.
Best to wait for this version - I already own their re-release of Vivaldi Recomposed on vinyl & it's spot on.
