Customer Review

on 26 August 2009
The special edition of 'Enlightenment' came as a surprise to me. It differs from previous special editions in that 1) it has been converted to wide-screen and 2) it is a cut rather than extended version (missing about 20 mins). It is also a resounding success. Fast-paced and noticeably lacking any really dodgy 80's TV moments or effects (even if the CGI isn't fantastic) this would be a great place for fans of the new series (or non-fans) to start on the classic series. It really makes up for the over-long and mostly boring Terminus (atmospheric first episode aside) and the story is also still very good in the original version. Mawdryn Undead falls in the middle. A slightly muddled plot with some good performances and some questionable ones, some great moments and some dubious ones; it is still very watchable and a decent serial. Overall yet another successful boxset at a favourable price. Keep them coming.
