Best ever Blu-ray 3D,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Jean-Michel Cousteau's Film Trilogy: Dolphins & Whales/Sharks/Ocean Wonderland (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray) [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Currently I own more than 30 Blu-ray 3D movies including several IMAX movies and cinema blockbuster movies like Avengers Assemble, Hugo, Transformers 3 etc., but simply nothing is better at showing 3D effects than these movies. Actually the content is even better and more impressive than BBC's Blue Planet, especially the Dolphins & Whales is fantastic, although the title may sound boring, but do not judge a book by it's cover ;-) The Sharks movie is great too, especially the great white shark, and Ocean Wonderland is simply beautiful.
So this is the Blu-Ray 3D reference - and I do not know how these IMAX people pull of their utterly amazing 3D effects with object seemingly popping out of the screen. Currently I have seen no cinema blockbuster movie being able to do this just partly as good as these IMAX movies (the Hobbit did not do it even in the cinema at 48 FPS 3D, Hugo was great, but no great popping there either...). IMAX movies also seem to put much more strain on the eyes (I use active 3D glasses on a Samsung 3D plasma), so about 40 minutes per movie is a perfect running time.
Subtitles are matched in depth to the object in focus, so you do not have to jump attention back and forth between focus objects in the movie and the subtitles, this is how subtitles should be done in 3D movies!
