This film must be one of Elvis's best performance. The film does not include Jailhouse Rock which is a major disappointment, but Elvis's performance is superb. However, there are only two songs that Elvis has sung, the title song, and one within the first five minutes.
This is a thriller/ family drama, with Elvis portraying the anguish and heartache of being half Native American, and half White. With his natural tan, and coloured black hair, he certainly looks the part.
Elvis distrought when his Mother a Native American is killed, joins his Mother's clan to seek revenge, leaving behind his White father, and half brother. However, his White father is killed by the Native Americans, unknown to Elvis, who plays the character Pacer. His screen brother, Cliff takes revenge and gets wounded himself. Elvis helps his brother but in the process gets wounded and dies.
This is certainly a tear jerker, especially when Elvis buries his screen Mother, you just cant help thinking what Elvis is going through at that time, as he must be remembering his own Mother's funeral which had taken place not even five years ago in his own life.
I certainly would recommend this film, as one of Elvis's more serious films, and shows what a fine actor he was. Its a great shame that he was not able to make more films like this one.
