Customer Review

on 10 July 2013
An excellent easy to read book of the most famous mass escape of WW2, even though there were others. The whole story of the great escape and the sad tail of the airmen who, at Hitler's command, were executed. The book points out that, had they gone in smaller numbers, Hitler would have been less aware and may have not issued the directive. The story is well written and researched and touches on what happened to the perpetrators of the executions after the war.
