Customer Review

on 13 December 2010
The Annals of the World is a most unusual and unique book. Ussher had access to some documents that seem no longer exist today and so has a lot of information on ancient history that is not found elsewhere.

It was originally published in Latin in the 1650s and is an amazing resource and a piece of history in itself. Don't be put off by Ussher dating the beginning of the world in 4004 B.C. No-one can date the beginning of everything with total certainty whether they date the world by thousands of years or billions! Annals of the World is a comprehensive look at history up to 70 A.D. That's not to say that Ussher got everything right, but nonetheless, it's a worthy addition to the bookshelf of anyone who likes history, and it should be remembered that few history books are without error, whether written in the 1600s or the 2000s.
