Customer Review

on 4 April 2013
You might think "why worry about video on a still camera" but if you think that then you haven't been using some of the new Sony still cameras for video recently.

Having a dedicated video camera makes very little sense unless you do nothing but video.

I own the Sony HX9, RX100, A77 and A99 and all video at 50/60 progressive scan so I was quite shocked to find the Sony 3N has gone back in time to 50/60i.

Unless you have seen 50/60p from one of the above cameras you won't know what you are missing but having seen them the 3N video at 50i looked awful.

Another problem is the powered zoom lens makes so much noise there is little point using it while filming.

So if you want to limit yourself to a nice still camera this maybe one for you but Sony do much better cameras for not much more that produce stunning stills and video.

I was really hoping the small size, large sensor and powered zoom would be a winner. Sadly it's not for me.
