A surprisingly good season,
This review is from: The Mentalist - Season 4 [DVD] (DVD)
I have watched The Mentalist since it began and as always the Red John episodes get the best out of the show. After the excellent season 3 finale( Still the best Mentalist episode to date) i was worried that the show might dip in quality. However i was delighted to discover that I actually enjoyed it s more than season 3. We see Jane and Lisbon become closer as he begins to trust her more. Jane often bends the rules and breaks the Law even more than usual this season and seeing Jane try the get himself out of a corner is one of the highlights of the show. Kimball Cho also goes through some development and he has a relationship which again made this season more interesting. There were quite a few excellent episodes for me they were ep 7, 10 and eps 23 and 24. Ep 10 is where Jane loses his memory and reverts back to his con man days which causes some interesting responses from his colleagues. The last 2 episodes deal with Jane's downward spiral after the 8 year anniversary of his families death.
A great season of The Mentalist.
