Customer Review

on 1 July 2009
Me being new to Cormac McCarthy I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm a sceptic of hype.

But, wow, what a pleasant surprise to have all that praise validated.

The writing style was such a great move. Stripped down of the norms that rule writing. Which I like to think as a reflection of the content it self. Stripped, sparse even desolate.
But in no way does it make it harder to read. It was nice to know that McCarthy trusted his readers enough not to be confused by a writing style that doesn't conform, a style which ultimately rewards the reader.

I won't write about the content of the story, rather I'll just mention the feature characters. They would strike a chord with anyone, the regular father and son. On the surface may seem easily forgettable, but the intimate nature of the story leaves these anonymous characters inked onto the mind. A literary masterpiece.
