Customer Review

on 17 July 2011
What a great book! This is similar to an 'Idiots Guide to....' except it doesn't call the person you are buying it for an idiot. Always a bonus in my eyes...

I was bought this as a present and was enthralled in the simple information and advice that fills the pages, helped by a smattering of deadpan witty remarks and trivia.

I really enjoy cooking and this teaches the skills, rather than recipes that you have no idea how to pull off. There are some recipes in the book, but they are all very simple and adaptable and there is a good focus on food choice and preparation that is missing from many books.

Target audience:
If you are a parent wanting to teach your son how to cook before he goes of to university then you can't go far wrong with this - especially if he's a fan of James May - just imagine him teaching you how to cook and you've got a pretty good idea of how this reads.

Great stuff. Just don't try the deep fried whole turkey recipe...

Unless you really like setting fire to your patio...
