Some Niggles Aside it's a Great Fighter,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Dead or Alive 5 - Collector's Edition (PS3) (Video Game)
The Collectors Ed comes in a lovely tin, has a great hardcover artbook, a poster, CD, DLC Bikini Code and the Game.
Overall the game is great - DOA5 is basically DOA4 with some spit and polish and some new characters. The new Characters (I have played Mila and Rig) fit right in to the DOA universe and are fun to play. Every character has been given a chargable push move which can be used as soon as your health bar is low (it glows red when you can do the move). The push moves are nicely integrated into the main game and show off the great looking interactive scenery.
Couple of Niggles - on PS3 you have to disable "throwdowns" (fight requests while you play Arcade mode a la SF4) or you get a gamebreaking pause of several seconds during every fight - a week after release and this is still not patched. In training mode they have allocated the button to demo moves to R3 - an inexplicable choice as most fight sticks and pads don't have an R3 meaning you have to switch to a normal gamepad every time you want to demo a move.
Niggles aside though and the core game is great. The difficulty settings cater for every one from a lowly button basher to someone expert in the nuances of countering. All modes are present and correct and the online while not quite reaching the dizzy perfection of Tekken TT2's code is certainly workable. Another thing I like about the game is that it allows you to play as each fighter quite easily yet each fighter plays very differently - so don't be put off by the small number of fighters available compared to rivals.
Fighting Fans have just revieved another great fighting game!
