Goodbye free time!,
This review is from: Horus Heresy Board Game (Toy)
For my fellow 40K worshippers this is a must!
The game is very true to the background, and has a feel like a board game version of Epic Armageddon (although much more sophisticated and detailed orders system)
The game is pretty complicated - you'll need to play half a dozen times to get the rules sorted (I am a postgraduate professional! - but then most 40K fans are above average intelligence!) and it will be weeks before you get to full grips with all the card variations and tactical possibilities.
Great background material (full Horus Heresy story from the bombardment of Terra by the Vengeful spirit)and game variations
Great game mechanics
My only gripe is that the board needed to be bigger! (its already huge) - the heros have bases that are too wide, so they don't fit in the palace regions properly (I think all the 3d plastic areas needed to be bigger to accommodate the correct number of troops in each)
Much more complicated than Space Hulk but just as delicious!
