PLAY IT VERY LOUD!!!.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Vague Us (Audio CD)
Energetic, thundering bass and drums, spitting vocals and catchy chorus', make up the large part of Mo*Ho*Bish*O*Pi's album 'Vague Us'. The early part of the album is defined with tracks such as 'Fista Blista', sounding like the Undertones, with drum rolls at the end of every bar.
The sound is more punky than Ash, but not unlistenable. 'Kids on Cake' is one of the more melodic tracks on the album. The tempo doesn't drop for long though as the thunderous 'Hear the Air' explodes followed by 'Drop Jaw' - one of the catchier tunes.
Mostly straightforward newave /punky pop from beginning to end and definitely one of the loudest but also catchiest albums I've heard recently.
Although the band are creative and original, essentially for the most of the early part of the album, they sound like other bands such as Elastica and in places (such as 'Oversexed') even reminiscent of early Boom Town Rats. Then about half way through, the album seems to develop with 'Playboy' and 'A moment too soon' sounding a bit more original. It's like the band are developing as the album progresses and tracks such as 'Names' have their own sound which is both original and accessible.
So if this is your thing, the album is for you, but make sure you PLAY IT VERY LOUD!!!.
