Wonderful, thrilling, amazing!,
This review is from: Crown of Midnight: 2 (Throne of Glass) (Paperback)
I loved Throne of Glass and from the moment Celaena first swaggered out of the mines where she'd been imprisoned - scarred but definitely not tamed - utterly fell in love with the characters. The first book was brilliant - but this sequel is, incredibly, even better.
I don't want to give away any plot spoilers but will say that this is a book of two halves. The first is almost domestic in theme as Celaena takes up the role of King's Champion. But the second explodes out into all kinds of directions that have their roots firmly in book 1 but which really come to fruition here. Magic, treachery, honour, love and loyalty, as well as a nice sprinkling of hidden identities and `save the world' thrills all abound - but at their heart is the gorgeously-rendered, bitter-sweet relationship between Celaena and Chaol.
After appearing seemingly pacified in the first half, Celaena unleashes an even more lethal and brutal persona than in the first book but it is always tempered with wit, intelligence and a sense of twisted integrity.
I could gush on about this book but really, just read it - it's amazing!
