Such a disappointing book from one of my favourite writers.,
This review is from: The Vault: (A Wexford Case) (Paperback)
I couldn't believe my luck that Ruth Rendell had decided to treat us to another Wexford. She can tell good stories and create pictures in your mind which linger for years after you've read her books. She is a star. So WHY is this book such a shambles? It is poorly edited, ('flyovers ' delivered through a letterbox) , some of the sentences barely make sense, so much so that I had to read them aloud to my husband to make sure I wasn't missing something... What happened to the plot thread about 'La Punaise'? What was the point of it? Sorry but the whole book felt like a badly remembered dream of an earlier book. It limped along to a rather snatched ending .DISAPPOINTING.
