This review is from: Fool's Gold: How Unrestrained Greed Corrupted a Dream, Shattered Global Markets and Unleashed a Catastrophe (Paperback)
As one reviewer notes this book is largely about JP Morgan's CDO desk. It then morphs into the JP Morgan/Chase Manhattan merger and what happens thereafter with Dimon at the helm. I doubt the irrepressible Dimon welcomes the association of his name with weapons of mass destruction. Somehow the author and publisher have succeeded in marketing the book as more a financial crisis book. The hardcover subtitle "How The Bold Dream Of A Small Tribe At J.P Morgan Was Corrupted By Wall Street Greed And Unleashed A Catastrophe" is certainly more accurate than the paperback subtitle. Nevertheless a well told story and much fun to read. Just goes to show that products invented purely to boost bank profits without contributing to productivity in the real economy end up busting the real deal and all the apologists at the erstwhile Morgan CDO desk can't convince me (or billions) otherwise. They ended up rich though.
