Plastic Jesus is, quite frankly, a place Earth could become. The fact that things could be exactly as they are in the book was a huge slap in the face. The virtual reality Jesus...I found him creepy but other readers might not. He unsettled me, but I think that was largely to do with the VR aspect and the thought of something created by code being in my head. Very good book. Makes you think, makes you uneasy, makes you a little bit scared for what the future will bring. As always with Simmons, a brilliant plot, fab character development/arcs, and a highly enjoyable tale that lingers that little bit too long...his other books are still hanging around in my mind. The mark of an ace storyteller, imo.
