3.0 out of 5 stars yet another... mediocre episode, 12 April 2009
This review is from: Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead, 2009 Easter Special [DVD] (DVD)
I'm sorry to write a review slating the newest episode of doctor but this easily of been beter, yes I understand the ickle kiddies own doctor who now and so the scariest we can give them is some fly mask with a janitor costume which reminded me of the fly film... in the 1950's. The cgi i'm afraid was rather unconvincing. The acting was also not up to scratch as I believe one guy on there upon discovering he was on another planet merely said "oh we're on another world", it's not like finding a quid in a pair of your old jeans - being on another world is actually rather shocking althought obviously no-one told them that in acting school. However on a positive note the temporary assistant and the doctor worked together and I thought her acting and general attitude was performed and shown brilliantly. I also loved the ending and the cliffhanger... ooooo chilling lol

oh btw I'm not a writer of Babylon File as someone thought I was last time lol i'm a 17 year old boy

Dear Mr Lane,

I enjoyed reading your review re Doctor Who - Planet of the Dead. I am very happy to see your love for science fiction, mainly Doctor Who. Personally I think the episode was brilliant. Yes, the fly people indeed looked like they had an accident with an janitor in a tunnel, but try and look beyond the quotes, acting and landscapes. If you would be the doctor, ending up on an alien planet (with all that knowledge inside you + say 900 years of life), would you not see the planet as a "quid in your old jeans"? Don't get me wrong, I am not telling you off, just sharing my opinion. See the bigger picture. Imagine you ending up on a desert planet, with billions of creatures coming towards you, wanting to eat up you and the world. Stuck in a bus in the middle of nowhere.
Anyway, even when the episode is slightly on the rubbishy side, the story is put together well and has a lot of "scope for the imagination". Hopefully the next special will be better!

Kind regards,

Wendy Webster (31 year old girl)

Btw, if you have not written the Babylon File (I don't know the work/book/etc), I wonder if you do write (fiction). It would suit you (your piece is well written).
