With their 4th studio album, Mondo Grosso has proved to be one of most influential and enduring acid-jazz bands of our times. The irresistably cool Japanese outfit (fronted by talented Shinichi Osawa) cooks up a musical feast of delicious acid-jazz spiced with glossy 2-step, house, hip-hop and bossa nova. Rather than sounding clunky and jarring with different genres all mixed into one album, MG4 plays smoothly from start to finish visiting various musical terrains on the way without ever losing their musical focus and vision. "MG4" is no doubt Mondo Grosso's best offering to date. And with Amel Larrieux (former vocalist of Groove Theory) and N'Dea Davenport (former vocalist of The Brand New Heavies) doing guest vocals, this is an album not to be missed. Excellent stuff!!
