"the baron" isn't a bad ITC series but it can hardly be mentioned in the same breath as "the saint" or "the prisoner." the trouble is, most of the stories are rather average and the production values don't seem to be up to the usual standard. steve forrest is a wooden actor and hasn't got a strong enough onscreen presence in which to make his character interesting. the supporting cast are somewhat better, although i was disappointed that colin gordon was axed from the series. he made for a brilliant number 2 in "the prisoner" and is a very good actor. to be fair to this programme, there are a few episodes here and there that are at least tolerable. the one where peter wyngarde played 2 completely different characters, to me proves what a fine actor he is and he stole the show in my opinion. the one with mike pratt (2 years from randall and hopkirk) is also a good one as he plays his usual brutal character. the special features are not bad but a documentary would have been preferable.
