Clara is involved in a road traffic accident with a homeless family which includes 3 children.
On getting checked over at the hospital, the mother, Lorraine, is found to be seriously ill and is hospitalised.
Clara feels honour bound to take the family into her home and care for them. Questioning her motives and getting to know the family makes this an enjoyable read.
If you like Anne Tyler's novels, you'll probably like this too. It's included in Canada Reads 2010, and is a good book for book group discussions.
